Here’s a little bit about how they work. Us humans have limited vision and only see a small portion of the electromagnetic spectrum called visible light, that is, without any help. However, we can see much better images of that visible light with the use of special equipment and cameras. Using such technology allows us to capture non-visible sources of electromagnetic radiation known as infrared light. Many surveillance cameras today now have the ability to project infrared light using a number of LED illuminators. When this process is combined with CCD image sensors capable of recording the infrared light spectrum, you get what’s called night vision.

There are many standalone night vision camera systems which you can buy and install. They are inexpensive and easy to operate. All you have to do is choose where you want to mount the surveillance camera, which also serves as the transmitter. Then you should place the receiver somewhere indoors and hook it up to a TV, monitor, computer, or DVR. Then presto – that’s it. The antennas do the rest of the work.
