How to Install Home Security Cameras in Your Residence

Home security cameras are becoming a popular part of a home security set-up. They offer a number of benefits, such as deterring burglars or vandals, and helping track comings and goings of visitors or strangers. In addition, the footage they take can be given to the police or authorities in the event of an incident, and can help in the identification and capture of a criminal.

When installing home security cameras, first consider the type of security camera that you want to install. Dome-style security cameras that can often record around a 360 degree range are often best installed inside in high-traffic areas. Bullet cameras, on the other hand, are usually small and easy to mount inside or outside. Spy cameras, due to their size, can be easily installed almost anywhere.

Next, consider where you want to install the camera. Ensure that its view will not be impeded and that you can easily position it and install any wiring needed. If you plan to install a camera outside, make sure that it’s protected from the elements if need be and from any wildlife.

Some cameras require wall-mounting, in which case you will need to install a bracket on which the camera sits. Ensure that you measure any areas that need to be drilled correctly, and install the camera according to any specific instructions. Ensure that your security cameras are securely mounted, and that any wiring is securely connected and protected.

    Ralph,
I am trying to decide the best option for Security cameras.
Do you suggest using IP or Analog. How clear is the picture over the internet. Do you recommend a package or individual system. I need 6 cameras and a DVR.I need to be able to view from remote P.C. Looking for good quality at a fair price. Do recomend any websites.
    Thanx, Brian

Depending on the level of quality in such areas as image sensors, processing power and compression, digital images available with high resolution megapixel cameras can provide a degree of resolution and detail that simply is not found in standard analog cameras. In addition, IP cameras possess the heightened ability to capture moving objects with a greater degree of clarity, allowing images to be viewed without the blurry effect that often besets analog images when a picture of a moving object is frozen. Most IP video systems also function better than their analog counterparts in low light situations.
