Alarm Monitoring

To have alarm monitoring or not to have alarm monitoring – that is a question that is often asked. It really is a matter of personal preference and budget.

As you would have observed, nobody takes much notice of audible alarms going off in most neighborhoods. There are three reasons for that. Firstly, nobody really wants to put themselves at risk by tackling a burglar, just to save your laptop and jewelry. Secondly, alarms of old were so easily set off by the wind that we all got sick of hearing them and started to ignore them. Thirdly, we’re often at work during the day which is prime time for a lot of burglars.

If your security system incorporates a medical alert system for an elderly or disabled person in your home, then monitoring is really worth the few dollars a month that you’ll pay. That’s because if the alarm is sent to you and you are a long way away, you have to summon help anyway, and you’ll have wasted valuable time in having the emergency attended to.

Alarms are for emergencies and the most appropriate people to deal with emergencies, are the emergency services! If you’re away from your home regularly, alarm monitoring makes good sense.
