Using Yard Alarms

In many cases, when people think of installing security alarms in their home, they don’t think of yard alarms. Instead, they think first of their front door and driveway, considering these to be the most likely entry points for a burglar or vandal. However, most home invasions take place from the rear of the house. This is due to the fact that because the rear of the house is often obscured by the house itself or by a garden, they can break in with less likelihood of being seen.

For this reason, installing yard alarms is a good way to improve your home security and deter burglars.

First, consider the type of alarm you need. Alarms that are triggered by motion sensors can be a good idea in some instances, but consider that they may be set off by wildlife. Door and window alarms, on the other hand, can be set so that they only go off when a gate is opened at night, or when the family is away.

When placing your yard alarms, place them in areas that are likely to be used as entry points, such as back driveways, gates, and low fences. Also consider placing alarms near sheds, garages, or barns, as burglars may attempt to break into these in search of electronic or hardware goods. Also consider placing yard alarms around areas that may be dangerous to children, such as pool gates.
