In Australia Shocking Murder Sparks Rush for Home Security

“People are shocked and disgusted. Families are frightened,” so says Rechenberg Security Secure call center manager Kim Faulks.
This comes after the murder of 8-year old Trinity Bates. Bates was abducted from her home and found dead in a drain on Monday in the Central Queensland city in Australia. A suspect is behind bars, but since the murder, area security firms have seen an uptick in home security. People are inquiring about home surveillance systems and alarms.
Active Lock and Key administrator Sheanne Pirie told the Brisbane Times that they have seen deadlock sales increase four-fold since Trinity’s death.
“People are going to amp up security,” Pirie said.
Meanwhile, Faulks said after the initial shock wears off, people would start to think about what they would do to secure their families. Faulks said she expects an increase in security system sales in the wake of the tragedy, including locks on doors and windows and upstairs and downstairs alarms.
“Security systems offer peace of mind,” she said.
