Violence in Haiti is Hampering the Relief Efforts

There has been lot of aid pouring in still Haiti faced that tragic natural calamity, but the relief operations have not worked in the way as they were expected. The only reason behind this is considered to be the violence that is making the relief operations impossible. Haiti is a poor nation and its condition has been worsened by this earthquake and more of the worst is being done by the people who are making the county insecure. The food packages and the convoys are being looted and this gives a clear indication that the insecurity has gone beyond its permissible limits.

Haitian police has at many instances open fired on the looters but it still does not seems that they have stopped looting the calamity hit people who are living in relief camps. There are more than hundred of rioters that gather at various different places and then try to disrupt the peace conditions over there.  UN forces are although working hard to provide security but as the police force of Haiti is in a devastated condition, they are also finding it tough to deal with the mob.

The aid workers have still not found enough relief supplies as most of the times the food packages and the medicines tend to become short of the amount that is required.  As the roads and the ports of the country have also been affected badly by this earthquake the pace at which the relief material is coming from the foreign powers has been slowed down. Till now, the number of the exact death toll is not known and the medical relief efforts are being hindered by the looters who are looting the medicine and the safety kits also.

It is really frustrating to see that even when the foreign bodies are trying their level best to come out with the relief operations, the Haitian people are not cooperating in it.  The military forces who have been performing the search and rescue operations found it tough to deal with the situation as many of the rioters gathered at the affected sites and starting obstructing the forces from reaching the affected areas.

A lot of time is indeed required to dig out the ones who have been buried deal or alive in the debris, but this is only going to be possible if the Haitian government takes the charge and assures that the people would not act as a barrier in the relief operations.  There are many international teams that have been heading to the country and these have firefighters, doctors and constructors in them. Once these people are provided with a chance to work to their full capacity, one can expect that the country is going to come out on its development path.

The looters and the rioters need to understand that whatever they are doing is going to prove of no good as with this they are stopping many of the constructive efforts that could reconstruct their country.
