Better Recovery Efforts for Enhancing Security in Haiti

Haiti in the western hemisphere has always been a poorest nation where 70% of people fall below poverty line. The problems of food, uncontaminated water and employment have always been a matter of concern for the people. Peacekeepers of other nations like UN have always been making efforts to bring the problems of gang warfare and other difficulties to an end and they were even successful to some extent also. However, firstly the hurricane and then the disastrous earthquake have convoluted the circumstances and left people in a very critical state.
The devastating earthquake hit the country in January and most parts of its capital collapsed due to this natural calamity. This was the biggest ever earthquake that struck the Caribbean island with a magnitude of 7.0 and then there were some devastating aftershocks also. Most of the huge constructions including government buildings, hospitals, orphanages and even two major prisons collapsed. Almost 4500 criminals escaped due to the natural disaster and since then various reports of gang violence have been coming up. The efforts made by UN peacekeepers were wasted totally and the survivors suffered from the shortage of food and water.
In the month of January, food, water and other medical supplies were delayed due to the reason of slow unloading process and storage problems, but in February, the process of providing supplies was speeded up. Some Western Nations, United States and Canada have been constantly providing support to the people in order to help them survive. Just after the quake shook the country, several people died and some people that survived were suffering from the shortage of food and water. The current situation in the country has been under control to a great extent, but people are still facing various problems with the same.
