Doctors Say- Medical & Health Conditions State Haiti Still Not Out Of Emergency Phase

Even when two months have passed after that hard hitting earthquake, no one can say that the conditions in Haiti are normal. There is nothing in Haiti that can be fitted into the bracket of normality, the women and children are not safe and even the medical conditions have not managed to come out of the emergency phase. As the extent of the destruction was so big, it kept adding more trouble and the Haitian government has been a mere spectator. Even the doctors serving in Haiti are stating that the conditions are pathetic.

The aid providing teams working in Haiti have found it really tough to treat the victims as the country’s disaster management system was completely shattered. There are many buildings in Haiti that are on the verge of falling down and these are posing threats to the security shelters that have been set up near to them. With more than 500,000 persons being displaced by this massive earthquake, nearly most of them are sleeping without a roof on their heads. The ones who are residing in open tents are unprotected from the weather extremes and this makes them more unsafe.

Diarrhea, breathing problems and skin related infections are three such things that the health workers and doctors in Haiti are finding tough to deal with. As the rainy season has also arrived, there are chances of spreading of any epidemic also. There are many people in Haiti who require weeks or even months of hospitalization, but the conditions of the hospitals would ruin their condition further. A complete coordination has to be set up so that the doctors who are here are at least given a chance to save some precious lives, if possible.
