Haiti Earthquake. Most heart wrenching calamity.

Haiti Earthquake is one of the most heart wrenching heart wrenching calamity happened in recent time. This earthquake scales 7.0 on Richter scale. The Red Cross society estimates over 50,000 victims of this earthquake. The major factor for such large devastation in Haiti is due to its building structure and the epicenter location. We can find earthquakes with similar reading on the Richter scale earlier, with less destruction. It’s due to the fact that the earthquake happened in a thickly populated state of Port -Au- Prince, and most of the houses in this part of the world are made up of concrete. Many people trapped under the concrete rubble. Adding salt to this is the fact that Haiti is the poorest country in Western Hemisphere.
Scientists suggest that land masses are build on the floating tectonic plates. In Haiti Caribbean plates and North American Plate got struck between them at Enriquillo-Plantain Garden Fault System. The People of Haiti are struggling to get food, drinkable water, shelter, medical aid. The rescue teams and aiding charities are facing problem to reach out the inhabitants of Haiti. The sea water has seeped into drinking water supply. Sanitary conditions have derailed, diseases are spreading. The majority of casualties were to Haitian civilians, but it also includes aid workers, foreign tourists, embassy staff, and some members of public figures.
Haiti desperately needs telecommunications, water, roads, and power supplies. The building engineers also have to consider the poor state of the Haiti as well. The Global agencies need to work on replanting ruined lands. Constructing dams, improve water supply system, conservation systems, provide the medical aid, good education should be the priority of the administration along with foreign aid.
International communities like International Code Council and other should construct buildings under building code to lessen the effect of such natural calamities. Nationwide Health Networks can be created to have medical aid at troubled time. Government should provide the essential information about how to reduce the financial and physical damage at the time of earthquake. We can certainly take a lesson from Haiti Earthquake globally. It would be a humane act this time that all the communities and legitimate charities come forward to help the victims of the Haiti. People of Haiti need assistance from every sphere of society this time so that they can come back to normal life.
One thing every individual or organization who want to help Haiti, must be aware of the fraudulent organizations who make use of the tragedies like this. It is easy and convenient to help online but one should check out for the trusted and well known organizations before giving any kind of financial help. If you think, you have been cheated by some charitable collection scam organization you can complain to Internet Crime Complaint Center.
Our heart goes out for Haiti civilians who haven’t done wrong yet in trouble. This is our moral duty to help them in every possible way we can find and help them to live a normal life as soon as possible.
