Road Safety tips

Road safety is extremely essential in order to avoid injuries, damage to properties and even death. Every year, around 4 million injury cases and more than ten thousands deaths happen in the United States. The costs of the damages caused due to the road accidents easily exceed 250 billion US dollars.  

There are a lot of reasons why road accidents happen, some of which are dilapidated roads, disregard to the traffic rules, driving in a drunk condition, etc. The injuries due to road accidents are generally very serious and lead to loss of limb, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries and ruptured discs and many more. There are certain dos and don’ts that people need to follow in order to maintain road safety. 

Road safety pointers for the person, who drives the car: 

  1. The driver should not drive the car through the right side of the lane/road, unless he/she wants to overtake a car, or have an emergency or need to go fast.
  2. The driver should follow the traffic signals and before taking a turn he/she should let the other people realize his/her intension of turning or moving.
  3. Drivers should not talk on mobile phones while driving, as it is harmful and legally banned.
  4. Babies and minors should always be seated in the backseats, as it is the safest.

 Road safety for the bi-cyclers, bikers: 

  1. It is very important to use proper helmet before riding on bi-cycle or motorbike in order to prevent serious head injury.
  2. Bikers should follow the traffic rules and signals properly. The child-bicyclers should follow the specific road for cycling.
  3. The helmets should be proper with a thick pad of thermo Cole inside, extending to the sides of the head without obstructing the vision and hearing.
  4. Even back seat riders should also use helmets.
  5. The cycle or bike should be maintained properly and it should be in a good working condition. The most important parts are the lights, reflectors, tires, and gears. Moreover the chain should be oiled properly and the brakes must operate smoothly.

Road safety for walking people: 

  1. For the walking people, they should also follow the traffic rules and signals.
  2. While crossing the road, parents should hold the hand of their children properly.
  3. The parents should teach their children to use traffic signals, to look to the right, left before crossing any road and should show good examples to the children.
