Pakistan has been badly affected of many dastardly terror attacks in the last few months. Ever since Pakistan allied with the United States in the war on terror in Afghanistan, the terrorist organizations that Pakistan had nurtured have turned against it. The Taliban affiliated organizations have been constantly attacking soft targets in Pakistan. In a very deadly and daring attack terrorists attacked a mosque in Lahore. Lahore is one of the largest and the most prosperous cities in Pakistan and is located centrally in Pakistan.
The Taliban terrorist lobbed grenades and fired indiscriminately at two mosques in Lahore. The terrorist stormed into these mosques which belonged to the Ahmadi sect. The incident on Friday has claimed lives of at least 32 people and has left many more injured. The army commandos moved in and killed the all the terrorists and captured one and claimed the two buildings in an operation that went on for more than three hours. The two mosques targeted were at a distance of fifteen kilometer from each other; hence the operation took longer than usual. The terrorist carry out this cowardly attack during the time the Friday prayers were on in the two mosques. This is the biggest attack in Lahore since the October 15 2009. In that attack the Taliban simultaneously carried out attacks on three police bases one of which was a training facility. There was another suicide attack in March 2010 in Lahore which targeted a busy marketing area and killed forty five people.
Eyewitnesses claim that around six to seven fully armed men barged into the mosque complex and started throwing grenades and firing at people. The people were at that time offering the zikar prayers. The terrorist also detonated a vehicle full of explosive devices and killing three policemen. All those who were injured were rushed to Jinnah Hospital. Seventeen people are feared dead.
