Youth against Terrorism

The whole of mankind is at present challenged by a nine lettered word that is growing increasingly powerful with every passing day- TERRORISM. Terrorism is the repeated use of terror by a group of individuals. They are usually guided by a set of false ideologies that rejoice in the killing of innocent men. Today terrorism is a single, persistent force that is making its presence felt all over the world. What is more pathetic is that the victims of this terrorism are non-combatant and innocent civilians. Terrorism is usually charged with political and religious motives. Moreover, since a large group of people are involved in inflicting acts of terror in a planned and organised manner it is time the common man put aside his inhibitions and come together to join hands in the fight against terrorism.
Instances of terrorism are increasing with the passing day. Go through the newspaper or turn on any news channel and chances are very high that you will be learning about some massive killing or bomb blast or the like that has claimed the lives of hundreds. The fact that most terrorists are backed by large funds and are equipped with deadly weapons makes the situation even more disturbing. Efforts are being made to combat acts of terror throughout the world. However, the results have often not been very satisfactory. The only force that has the requisite energy and strength to stand up against this evil is the youth.
It is time the youth come to the forefront of every issue; their involvement should no longer be just passive, they need to take an active part in the proceedings. Grey haired men, often poisoned by corruption have long dominated the political scenario. It is time for the youth to step over. Only a fresh lease of enthusiasm can lead the people in this hour of crisis. The youth can suggest new ideas to tackle this issue of terrorism by writing in magazines, books and so on. We can no longer have biased, orthodox ‘adults’ who have no regard for new and unconventional ideas to lead us the way. The issue of terrorism cannot be combated unless we welcome new ideas and allow the youth to voice their opinions.
The often untapped or misused potential of the youth needs to be redirected and for this they need proper education. They need to learn to shoulder responsibility. The youth can also help foster relationships between countries. In this hour we need to put aside the differences and work together as one. The major areas that serve as the origin of these terrorists need to be identified. Not just this, the youth can be sent to these regions to interact with the people of this area and try to bring about a change. The youth of these places need to shown the right way and be motivated not to join terrorist groups, rather team up against it. All this… because it is the youth who have unadulterated passion and belief in them; weapons that no act of terror can stand up to…
