Women have generally been thought of as the weaker sex due to their relatively low level of strength than an average male. They may be forced into situations where their control is taken away from them or even raped. Statistics show that most criminals usually end up killing their hostage rather than letting them go after their purpose has been served. A lot of women may have the misconception that they will be allowed to leave once they do whatever their perpetrator is asking them to do. This is exactly the kind of mindset that a criminal thrives on and expects. The best thing you can do to safeguard your life is to make an attempt to surprise and overpower an attacker. This leaves you with a good chance to make a run for it or to escape to safety. Even if you are hurt in the process, it is far better than ending up dead.
- It has been proven in the art of Tae Kwon Do that the elbow is the most powerful bone of the body. So, you should put your full force and might into it and just hit your attacker with the elbow. Do not spend too much time thinking where the blow will land as time is of the essence in such cases. You should not allow him to take you to an extremely secluded place possibly at the outskirts of a town or city where no one can hope to find you. So, you should make your move as soon as someone attempts to overpower you.
- The nose is the weakest point on the body. If you are able to do so, roll your hand into a fist and strike with all the strength that you can muster. A hard blow on the nose is sure to send him reeling and may even make him temporarily dizzy affording you a few moments to make a run for it.
- The crotch is the weakest part of a man’s body. You should try to hit this vulnerable part with your knee. A good, hard kick will definitely surprise him and throw him off balance. At such a time, even if the man has a weapon, you should make it a point to take the risk to just run as you will most likely end up being dead anyway later on. You should however not run straight and should try to get behind a structure as soon as possible. A haphazard running manner should be adopted to avoid being hit by a bullet from behind.
- You should carry a small bottle of pepper spray with you at all times. This should be kept at a place that is easily accessible to you in times of emergency. A spray into the eyes of your attacker is sure to give you enough time to escape.
- In case you have been hijacked along with your car and are being forced to drive somewhere at gun point, you should make it a point not to obey directions. You should try to take advantage of the fact that the steering is in your hands and true to crash the car as soon as you find an opportunity to do so. Criminals do not like to come into the limelight and this is exactly what a car crash will do as people will gather around quickly to provide help. The accident will not give enough time for the attacker to react.
- If you are being held from your stomach in a tight hug by a molester, you should take advantage of your free hands and roughly pull back the hair of the attacker. As you do this, you should give a hard blow to his chin.
- If you are being held from behind, you can use the back of your head to hit the attacker on the face with full force. As you do this, you should try to hit his nose.
- You should never roll down your car window for strangers during night time as this is more or less likely to be trap of some kind. However if you have made the mistake of doing so and an attempt is made to get hold of you, you should instantly hit the accelerator and drag person along with your speeding car. This will force him to let go.
- A tazer is a kind of a gun that sends an electric shock on a person against whom it is applied. It is very compact and can easily fit into an average clutch.
- If you do not have any weapons, you can make use of pieces of jewelry or a hard watch face to hit a person impact fully
Armed with these protection tips, you are sure to emerge more confident and able to deal with threatening situations more efficiently and effectively.
