Safety Rules at School

School is a place to have fun and to learn all sorts of new things. For children, it’s a place to grow and add to their knowledge. Part of growing is by doing all sorts of different activities. So, what are some rules that children need to know in order to be safe, while being able to learn new things and truly reach their full potential?

The first thing that children need to know is that they need to listen to the teacher. Teachers unknowingly don’t pay attention to the teacher. There is a reason that the teacher is there, the teacher is to ensure the child’s safety. They are in charge of the students when they are at school. As soon as the parent or the bus drops the student off, the teacher is responsible for their safety. That is why the students need to learn to listen to the teacher.

Scissors and other sharp objects will be used in the classroom. Therefore, when they have scissors, they need to be held in the hand with the sharp edges down. This is how they should be passed as well. One should never run with scissors in the hand.

Another thing they need to learn is that there is no running in the classroom. When they run in the classroom, then they can get hurt. Restless and energetic as they are they like to run often. Most classrooms have carpet, but only in a few areas, so in case the children take a fall they can get seriously hurt. Along with that, they need to make sure that their shoes are tied. If they aren’t they can trip over their shoestrings and fall. They could again possibly hurt themselves further.

When looking at school rules, students must learn to trust the teacher. If someone is bothering them, you need to teach them to tell a teacher or a grown up. They shouldn’t try handling it themselves. Bullies are in every situation, but there is no need to fight and so forth so when they learn to accept the help of others, then they can abstain from getting hurt as well as causing harm to others.

A child needs to know the rules that the school has. They will have objections to the rules, but teachers and parents should tell them why the rules are there. When they follow the rules, they can feel safe and others can feel safe as well. Go over the rules with them.

If your child rides the bus, they need to learn that one of the rules is to sit in their seat and wait until the bus has stopped. They also need to know that they should go about and cross the street in front of the bus; not behind so that the bus driver can see that they get across the street safely.

There are many different rules when it comes to school. Your child might feel overwhelmed due to the fact that each classroom, teacher, and so forth has their own rules. The best thing as a parent that you can do is to discuss the rules with them so they have an understanding of what they will expect from them so that they stay safe at school.
