Handling Crime at Your Level

Crime levels are rapidly rising in most parts of the world and making it a much less safer place to stay in when compared to the preceding decade. Criminals have invaded every aspect of our lives and no place be it the cyber world or the offline world is said to be safe from their notorious activities. We have to be constantly alert if we want to save our property, our lives and our valuables secure from criminals. The concerned authorities like the police officials and intelligence agencies do their task as best as they can but you can help them rid your city of crime by incorporating a few easy to follow guidelines in your life as well.
1) If you have a friendly disposition and are extremely trusting of strangers, it can land you in trouble before you realize it. You should avoid trusting people that you have just met too much. It is better to be on your guard if you sense someone getting too close for comfort on your first meeting with him/her. He/she may be a criminal with hidden agendas that may not be revealed to you until it is too late.
2) You should not hitchhike your way to your destination as many women are kidnapped, raped and molested by people who give them free rides on highways. Highways can be dangerous places for women as they are nearly always deserted with a near absence of proper lighting. It is better to opt for public transport if you are stranded somewhere and need to travel. You should try to take a lift from women drivers and families.
3) You should make it a point not to stop on roads at night time no matter what the circumstances. Highway robbers tend to create some sort of a distraction or disturbance to bring you to a halt and then attempt robbing you of your cash and belongings. They will most certainly also take your car leaving you in the middle of nowhere. If you find a vehicle following you, you should immediately call the local traffic police and inform them of such a threat before it is too late.
4) When walking down alleys or streets in the dark, you should never be on your cell phone as this is a sure shot distraction and you may not even notice someone creeping up on you while you are busy chattering away. It is good to keep your cell phone handy but you must avoid losing your sense of alertness by getting lost in an interesting conversation and ignoring your surroundings. You should look for houses to head into in the vicinity if you suspect someone following you.
5) When you meet someone online, it is easy to get tempted to go on a first date to fulfill your romantic notions of love. However, you must be really careful in this regard as a majority of such cases turn out to be internet frauds. A lot of men and women have been said to use a false identity to entrap an unsuspecting person and rob him/her by extracting confidential information.
Although crime cannot be completely rooted out by individual efforts, you can do your bit in keeping yourself safe from such crimes. The society can work together to make itself a better and safer place to live in.

Sticking to illuminated areas is always a better idea, I think if people took more precautions on securing their home and installing the correct security devices crime could be reduced
I agree with the guy above, if you just take a second to think out what you need and use stuff like lighting with sensors, a working alarm, etc and you should do well to prevent crime.
