Amusement parks are synonymous with a majority of people. Parents, couples and work mates frequent these parks annually to not only pass their leisure time but to also to bond with their children. However, there are hundreds of accidents reported from amusement parks every year. These are cases that could have otherwise been prevented had adequate measures been taken. It is never too late to make a difference and as such be safe while visiting an amusement park with your children.
Discussed herein are top five tips to assist you and your children to stay protected on your upcoming family vacation to Disney World, Sea World and Universal Studios amongst others.
- Avoid Sun burn: Given the number of hours that visitors to amusement parks spend under the sun, a big number often fall victim to sunburns, heat exhaustion, heat rashes and strokes in contrast to other forms of injuries. To be on the safe side, you need to have water. Stay clear of drinks containing sucrose as they only serve to add weight. An alcoholic beverage on the hand hastens the dehydration process. Before gaining access to the theme park, ensure that you have applied plenty of waterproof sunscreen. This should be reapplied as the day progresses as build up of sweat washes away the sunscreen. Other measures that can be applied to prevent heat stroke include wearing a hat and comfortable attire.
- Be familiar with your surrounding: It is always good to be constantly aware of those around you at all times. Take care to avoid stumbling or stepping on other people toes. In case you do have a baby stroller, be courteous so as not to crash into other people. Before coming to halt when walking, ensure that there is nobody behind or in front of you so as to avoid possible collision.
- Avoid restricted areas: When in theme parks, you will most likely come across signage indicating restricted area. Avoid these areas at all cost even if you have dropped a personal possession, i.e. hat or cell phone. Seek the help of park assistants when gaining access to such localities become necessary.
- Don’t push yourself to the limit: One of the most interesting things about theme parks is the adrenaline rash that comes with riding roller coasters and other hell raiser rides. If you or your child is overweight or has a heart condition or high blood pressure, avoid such rides at all costs. Before embarking on such rides, it is vital that you seek the advice of your doctor. In addition, before visiting an amusement park, it is recommended that you have a thorough health check-up so as to determine the health status of you and the kids.
- Assist the children: When being accompanied by children, it is important that you take some time off to explain to them the different activities that they can engage in and their behaviour. Children look upon their parents and guardians for safety. A good way to do this is by following the rules and guidelines laid down in the parks. Point out to them that they too are expected to follow the regulations.
