The term Surveillance refers to keeping a closer look at the activities of people and monitoring their behavior. It is basically watching over suspicious activities and is specifically an integral part of home security. In practical view it is observation of a part of the house or neighborhood from a distance using security cameras and computers. It is very important in the field of maintaining law enforcements and situation control.
Over the years, security and protection have gained a lot of importance. People are now more and more concerned about their safety at home or any other public place. And with the development of technology, the equipment has become more sophisticated, and more affordable by people. Though installing a CCTV camera at your home isn’t inexpensive, only a few sections of the people can afford that. Mostly people who live in suites and large houses, and it becomes necessary to have a security system installed to monitor any possibility of burglaries and thefts of private properties.
The most widely used place of a surveillance system is a bank. It’s an absolute necessary, considering the increasing number of bank robberies over the years. The banks nowadays keep a large network of hidden security cameras to monitor any suspicious activities within the bank as well as around its neighborhood. This improves the security to a great extent. Another important place to use security cameras are super markets and shopping malls. And it can help to avoid any petty thieves from stealing or sneaking out goods, or can even help to prevent a robbery with the help of an efficient surveillance system.
But the most important application of a security system is your home for personal protection. Home security systems can range over from small systems that include trip wires and alarms for burglar detection, to a full-fledged surveillance system complete with CCTV cameras at every corner and computer terminals to monitor over the cameras. But a full-fledged system is impossible to afford by any normal middle class family. But still they can afford a single camera to prevent the possibility of a burglary, and a small alarm system that will trigger off making the people alert and aware of the presence of some unsuspecting people, and can take immediate preventive actions.
Most of the developed cities in the world use a centralized network of CCTV security cameras throughout the city at traffic junctions and public places. This is usually used by the intelligence agencies, and is connected to the databases of people with criminal records or arrest warrants, and there have been incidents of them being able to arrest people who had pending warrants. Thanks to the highly developed security system which was able to make facial recognition of the criminals. These cameras around the city can also be used to pursuit speeding vehicles, or manage the traffic system from a computer room.
Thus a surveillance system has a lot more benefits other than being an important part of safety and security. And it can obviously help you to feel more secure at home.
