Junk food and the underlying nemesis

Junk or trashes are synonyms. But trash is never associated with food.  Practically however the ill effects of junk food accounts it to be filthier than the rubbish that we throw away every day in the trash can. World over the heart diseases are a major cause of death. There are hardly any people in urban India over 40 who are not facing any such problem caused because of consumption of junk food. Cholesterol, diabetes and high blood pressure are the immediate effects of long term consumption of junk foods.

Junk food is that category of food which has absolutely no food value or those foods whose consummation on a long term may produce severe harmful effects on the human body. At present all over the world the junk food eateries have spread like mushrooms especially in the urban areas. They are also termed as fast food, because they are ready to eat. The fast food joints have grasped the urban youth in particular as they find it more convenient to consume such food. In addition to it this food is readily available and is good in taste.

The primary composition of junk food is of saturated fats such as oil, salts, with complete absence of food fiber. Junk food does not have any food value and the little that it may have is supposed to be negligible and may be obtained in much more quantity from some other food. People consume it basically for its taste. It is good in taste and can be eaten at any time of the day when you are at your leisure or when you are really hungry. Junk foods give that stimulus to your body which makes you gain an instant energy level.

The real nemesis rises when you tend to substitute your meals with the fast foods. Those people who have to rush to work early in the morning prefer to have a quick bite rather than makes themselves comfortable on the dining table with a plate full of salad along with a healthy diet. Similarly those who cannot spare their valuable time in the afternoon to have a proper lunch rush to some fast food joints or road side junk food stalls and grabs some trash to munch upon.

Many people especially the youth tend to face the threat of obesity due to high level of consumption of junk food. Junk food contains high amount of saturated fats which contribute to such a cause. You may often observe that junk foods make you feel drowsy and behave like a sloth. This is because they require more blood flow in intestine than in other body parts for digestion. Heart diseases are the real cause of concern and junk foods are found to be a major contributing factor to it. Increase in blood cholesterol blocks the blood arteries which in turn increases the blood pressure. Junk food contains too much of saturated oil that eventually increases blood pressure and they have enough potential to damage your pancreas and livers. Diabetes is also a disease that fast food consumption may make way for.

So say NO to fast food and live healthy.
