Drinking and driving is a serious offense not only in the United States, but also in other parts of the world. Drunken driving is causing most economies to lose billions of dollars annually. The amount of money spent in rehabilitating those involved in a road accident as a result of drunken driving would have been put to good use somewhere. All of us are fully aware of the dangers of drinking and driving, yet most drivers insist on taking alcohol before getting in their cars. The fact that most people have different alcohol tolerance level is what is giving a majority of those that drink and drive an artificial sense of wellbeing. Unfortunately, this artificial sense of security is what has led to untimely death of many a people on the roads due to drinking and driving.
Given the number of injuries and fatalities that rise from drinking and driving, most countries around the world have enacted legislations against drinking and driving. In addition, there are countries that have laws which pass the responsibility of drinking and driving to pub owners. Drinking and driving places your life at risk
The moment you decide to get behind the wheels of your automobile while inebriated, you are putting your life at risk. Alcohol lowers your concentration level on the road, and as such you are most likely to be involved in a road accident.

It’s quite unfortunate that the most people who die as a result of drinking and driving are not the drivers themselves, but other road users. Recently, a well-known actor was sentenced to 5 years in prison after decapitating the head of his passenger while driving while drunk. The most unfortunate thing is that he did not even know about it. It only came to his realization the next morning when he was being woken up by police.
You can lose your driving license
When you are charged with DUI, you can be warned or fined. However, the laws have changed over the years and DUI charge includes a suspended driver’s license. What’s worse is that you can go to jail for not less than five years if you are charged and found guilty of DUI.
DUI ruins family lives
Before drinking and driving, you need to think about your own family and that of the other road users. Families are usually torn when they lose a loved one to untimely death.
