Let's face it we live in an unsafe world full of crazies and thieves just lurking in the shadows waiting to burglarize our homes. I am being a little dramatic but in a way what I am saying is true. You see we have the right to protect ourselves from the bad, yet rarely people do.
The smart people are the ones who want to protect what is theirs because they have worked to hard to lose there hard earned property and feel victimized. Burglars pray on the weak, the elderly, and the single mother with three kids. We need protecting and we have the means to be protected yet some of us choose not to.
Like any wise investor you need to do your homework when choosing an alarm system. If you are not an expert on this subject you can buy the first alarm system you see in the phone book, or you can make an educated decision and do your homework. Join a forum and just not any forum an alarm forum.

Don't take the word of a sales guy. These guys will upgrade you on things that you don't need to protect your home, and you will end up paying for it. But if you had gone on a forum and discussed this before hand, you would not end up buying things that you do not need, and end up saving money.
Also you may want to go with a well known company, ask these sorts of questions in your alarm forum. You need to do your homework on the company as well as take the advice of people who use the alarm. You see you don't want to use a company that has been in business only a couple of years, you want a company that is well established and will be there for you down the road for years to come.
