The conditions in Haiti have been really bad after the earthquake arrived and at that time it seemed that the conditions would take a long time to come back to normal. One nice twist that came into this whole scene was the business reopening here and that too much sooner than expected. With many private security contractors coming in the country all of them have the same view that handling the security issues here would be quite similar to handling them in the war areas.

The security contractors coming here are very much equipped to deal with the dangerous conditions that are prevailing here and this would definitely bring in some sigh of relief for the business owners. Loads of donations have flooded into the country since the earthquake came and now it is time that all this is used for reconstructing the country. Regine Barjon of Haitian American Chamber of commerce said that Haiti is very much opened for business and there are loads of jobs here.

As the country is not very much dependent on importing foods, the agriculture sector of the city also promises good job opportunities. There is only one thing that country might need to import and that is oil, rest if the earthquake skeletons are removed, it would not take much time for the city to stand again.

As the relief works are taking place at a good pace and there are lots of aids present, the business sector is definitely not going to face any problems as now it has started. The security companies that are in Haiti would be focusing on the sheltering jobs as this is the area that needs immediate attention. The emergency time is over and now businesses can very much flourish here.

Shoplifting is an unfortunate reality for any retail business owner, so it’s essential that you know how to take steps to prevent its occurrence.

Encourage staff visibility – encourage your staff to great each customer, and to ask them whether they need help looking for something. Regular customers will enjoy the attention, and shoplifters will be deterred by the personal attention.

Install security measures – keep valuable items in locked cabinets, and ensure that you have security cameras fitted in doorways, near the register, and near areas that have low visibility to staff. These can help both deter and identify shoplifters.

Advertise your security measures – put up signs and decals letting customers know that the shop is protected by video surveillance. If shoplifters know they’re being watched, they’ll be less likely to commit an offence.

Keep an eye on your merchandise – organize your merchandise so that it’s easily visible to your shop assistants, and limit the number of items customers can take into changing rooms. Always have a staff member attending to customers in the changing rooms, as this helps decrease the likelihood that items will be stolen.

Use bright lighting – shoplifters will be discouraged by an environment that is bright and welcoming, as this means they’re more likely to be seen and noticed.

Keep these tips in mind, and with luck you’ll be able to reduce incidences of shoplifting at your small business.
