You probably want your family to be able to sleep peacefully at night, not having to worry about someone breaking into their home. While alarm systems do not make it impossible for someone to get into your home, it does make it so you know when someone enters.
For instance, a burglar approaches your house and opens a door or window. If you have an alarm system installed, there will be sensors on each door and window. If someone was to open the door or window, an alarm would go off in your house, and the police would be called.
So, it is still possible for someone to enter your home, but in most case the alarm will scare them off. In fact, many intruders stay away from houses that have signs saying they have an alarm system. However, do not just place a sign up thinking it will scare them off, this is a dangerous idea. You are better off just installing the system.

Residential alarm systems are an excellent way to scare off potential intruders, and make you safer by alerting you to anyone entering your home.
