This is the first webcast produced by Security World News. In this webcast we cover a controversial endeavor in Flint, Michigan to allow companies to sponsor public security cameras. At a price tag of $30,000 per camera, a company can post their logo on the device. The idea is for the program to enable the city to buy more cameras to watch over the crime ridden parts of the city.

Moving on to Utah based APX Alarm. This past year, the company has been drowning in complaints by upset customers. Pushy sales tactics and shoddy installations are among some of the complaints. This time the complaints come out of New York and Louisiana. For more on this story Annie Blanco interviewed APX Chief Operating Officer Alex Dunn. You can find that article on this website under the title, “APX Alarm talks to Security World News about Sales Tactics and Company Expansion”.

As always, it’s not hard to find a story about door-to-door cons. Unfortunately it happens everywhere and it’s often the elderly who are targeted. This is such an important story because every bit of coverage can help lead to prevention. Following the con story out of Provo, California, we then offer some tips on how to combat cons. Security World News will end every webcast with a series of Home Security Tips. We hope you enjoy our first webcast and we look forward to producing many more to come.
