The more security you have at home, the harder it will be for a burglar to get in. Burglars don’t like to work, which is why they steal. By making them work to get into your home, you will be letting them know that you are not going to be an easy target. Plus, most burglars won’t work hard to get in anywhere; usually they will give up and move on.

In this news story they speak to, Martin Fox, Deputy General Manager of AA Insurance. In this news story he states, “It’s not surprising that so many of us are wary about leaving our homes unoccupied. Burglaries have increased significantly and many people are still not putting basic measures in place that would easily make their homes more secure.”
No one is going to make sure that your home is secure while you are away. That is why it is so important to make sure basic security steps are taken to be sure your home is protected while you are gone. Here are some of the basic steps you need to take.
1. Before leaving home, make sure your doors and windows have locks on them that can’t be unlocked from the outside. If they do, then replace them. Also, be sure that you take time to walk around your home to make sure each door and window is locked.
2. Ask your neighbor, friend or family member to get your mail and any newspapers you receive. This will prevent burglars from knowing you are gone.
3. Get timers for your lights in different parts of the house. These timers will turn on lights in your home at different times of the day and in different parts of the house. This will make a burglar think someone is at home.
These are definitely not all of the steps you want to take for security at home. Learn as many steps as you can to be sure you have the best possible security available. Your home is your safe haven, so protect it even when you are away from home.
