They say that nothing in this world is constant except change. This means that everything you see and know in this world are bound to evolve and emerge as something different. Most of the times they are mere improvements of what they used to be, and in some cases they emerge as something else. Security, of course, is not an exception. Of all things, security evolves a lot to cope up with the latest trends and modus operandi criminals and organize crime groups come up just to defeat the latest in today’s safeguard systems.

The case is very prevalent with computer systems. Antivirus programs and other forms of malware protection constantly update their definitions in other to include the latest viruses, Trojan horses and other malicious software so that the user is fully protected. Hackers and programmers know that, too, and thus they also develop new versions of their evil programs to defeat whatever innovations their opponents come up with against them. It’s an endless duel between these two parties and, guess what? You’re caught in the middle of it.

Just like the computer, your home is very vulnerable to security threats. Everyday, while you keep the facade that your home is very safe so as to prevent panic and fear in your household members, you worry about how you can keep it free from the undesirable elements of society. You might be thinking that there is something missing in your security, and there might probably be. You can’t risk that so you have to find ways to improve your security. How do you do that? Get yourself an electronic security system! You’ll be taking virtually a quantum leap with your home security when you install this system in your home.

Here are some of the benefits that you will certainly enjoy when you invest in an electronic system.

24-hour Security

The human eye is only useful for a certain amount of time. It tires after some time, that is why you could say that the home is most unsafe during the night. For this reason, a dog can be useful but it also tires afterward. What one really needs is security that doesn’t sleep, and never bats an eyelash. Fortunately, that is what one gets from an electronic system for security. The camera’s eyes never sleep, and will work for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week without getting tired.

Comprehensive Security

Getting a security guard may be a good move, but the coverage of a human security is utterly limited. The moment he turns his back, there is a blind spot. However, with an electronic security system, you get to cover that blind spot using a surveillance camera. With this, you can cover the maximum area possible with an electronic security system.

No Expensive Monthly Costs

Unlike human security, electronic surveillance involves only a one-time installation cost and no monthly fees. There could be maintenance fees, but they would be significantly less than what you would spend if you are tapping a security firm to handle your security. That doesn’t mean, however, that they don’t work hand in hand with each other.

They are no longer mere establishments. They have also become Big Brother “houses” after studies showed that owners have already installed different types of cameras within the vicinity.

Indeed, as crime rates and the threat of terrorism continue to increase through the years, there is a good chance that the security cameras will become more in demand. There will also be a lot of changes in the areas of use and features.

IP Cameras

The United States government, in an effort to minimize illegal aliens and to monitor suspicious people, is thinking about building a virtual fence. Unlike the usual fences you are aware of, this one is going to be composed of tall towers where IP cameras will be attached. They are called as such because each will have an assigned IP or (Internet protocol) for easy access. They can run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for the entire year.

This is going to be beneficial at their end, since they no longer have to assign too many armed officers in the border. As front liners, they are the first ones who are being harmed when there is an aggressive decision to cross the borders. The cameras will then be manned in a control room, where there are several monitors or screens.

X-rays

The concept of X-rays is something that is easily understood by many. After all, who has not really seen an X-ray machine? However, the technology is no longer reserved in health care facilities and for medical diagnosis. It is already adopted in buildings such as airports.

How does it work? It is basically similar to the X-ray machine used in checking luggage. The only difference is that it is already humans who are subjected to it. Once you pass by the X-ray scan, the machine’s sensors can immediately penetrate into your clothes and check if there are concealed weapons even in your undergarments. It is so effective that it detects not only metals but also plastics and ceramics. It can also go through walls.

Streamlining Tasks

There is also the emergence of smart cameras. They just do not monitor people; they know who to watch out for. Of course, they cannot do this job unless you have set up the controls properly. Thus, the cameras can now be integrated into an application, which is the one you manipulate if you wish to create tasks for the camera.

Face Recognition

In the recent Superbowl game held in Florida, there were thousands of people who may not know that they are being watched and their faces compared in the internal database for mugs. This may sound offensive, but the latest tool actually allowed police officers to immediately determine possible criminals and fugitives in the crowd (hey, they watch football games too).

Indeed, these latest technologies aim to make surveillance cameras more effective and even cost-effective. Yet what companies should also try to consider in modifying features is the privacy. When a camera can already pass through clothes and undergarments, well, you do not have to purposely bare your soul before someone gets to see it.

Caracas and Venezuela in general are becoming very prone to crime and violence. The Kidnapping rates in the South American country have been soaring increasing and have increased by 40% to 60%. In 2009 alone there have been 16047 reported cases of homicide, which amounts to a fourfold increase from the last decade. What is even more alarming is the inability of the law enforcement agencies to punish the criminals. There were only 1491 detentions made in connection to homicides as compared to 5017 a decade ago in the year 1998. Something needs to be done about the current predicament of the Venezuelan people. There must be well planned steps taken in order to curb crime and violence.

Today, when people visit Caracas, they have to wait for some co-passenger or road traveller to accompany them. This is because of the increase kidnapping incidents that take place on the 14 mile stretch between the airport and the main city. These kidnappings nick named by the police as express kidnappings have become a night mare for the police. Another serious problem for the Venezuelan Police is the armed forces inability to decommission old weapons. The corruption in the police department has been the major contributor in the alarming rise in the levels of impunity. The increased stockpile of weapons and a large number of old left over weapons means an easy access to weapons for the citizens. A large number of criminals, drug mafia, kidnappers and extortionists are crossing in to Venezuela from Colombia. Colombia has been better at tackling criminals and a success for the Colombian Police transgresses into a loss for Venezuela. Criminal organisations have been relocating themselves from Colombia to Venezuela ever since the Colombian law enforcement agencies have stepped up efforts against crime.

Before Chavez came to power there were a total of a 304 kidnappings, that figure made a monumental climb to 2665 during 1999 and 2009. But the President has been busy elsewhere. The government has spent millions of dollars in protecting the country from an external threat. Very little has been done without the threat within. Venezuela has become the Latin American country that spends the highest amount of its GDP on defence.

There have to be efforts to cleanse governmental institutions that have become impotent against crime. Chavez has to show more political will to stop the onslaught.

Do what you can to secure your own little part of the world by increasing your home security.

Nowadays, deadbolts and a Doberman aren’t enough. Sophisticated criminals get past such home security measures, and violent criminals know how to bypass your basic home security. You have to fight to keep them out. Home Security Store gives you the defenses and the weapons to protect your castle.

The Statistics

It may shock you to know that more than 40 percent of break-ins occur during the day, in broad daylight. Criminals know when you are away at work or school, and they take that chance to smash-n-grab. Secure your home 24 hours a day, seven days a week, because you never know when a criminal will strike.

Basic Home Security

Though basic home security may not be enough, it should not be ignored. Protecting your home starts with three basic home security measures: lock up, yard work, and light up.

1) Lock Up

Begin by installing sturdy locks on all your doors and windows. It may be tempting to leave the door unlocked when you are home, or to leave the window open on a hot night, but that is poor home security. Home security common sense requires you to remain vigilant at all times, and that includes properly securing yourself in your home.

2) Do Some Yard Work

Next, trim back bushes from lower windows. Criminals can easily hide in bushes and break in through windows. Trees provide problems as well, so cut tree limbs that create easy access to upper stories. The thought of someone scaling a tree to break into your home may seem implausible, but it happens. Total home security is a must, no matter how unlikely something seems to you.

3) Light Up

Finally, put the criminal in the spotlight — literally. Light up your property with motion sensor lights or flood lights that leave criminals nowhere to hide. Home security starts by making criminals NOT want to break into your home. Shedding some light on the matter may be enough to drive them away.

Three Best Home Security Options

But what if this criminal is particularly determined to get past your basic home security? Not to fear, because technological advances have made home security into a powerful art form.

Home Security Stores offer a wide variety of methods to protect your home and family. Home security can mean alarms, locks, motion sensors, safes, and personal safety devices.

Option 1: Alarms

When we hear the term home security, alarms are what we might think of first. Whether wired or wireless, home security alarm systems are a major deterrent for criminals. They monitor points of entry, such as doors and windows, or they monitor for motion when the home should be empty.

• Motion Sensor Home Security

Motion sensor home security monitors and detects when unauthorized motion occurs in what should be an empty home. Modern motion sensor home security can even distinguish between a pet and a criminal, making this method of home security even more effective and dependable. Install a motion sensor home security alarm system in your home and know you have no unwelcome guests.

• Window Break Home Security

Windows are a popular point of entry because they are made of breakable glass. But there are home security devices that can detect when that glass is broken, setting off an alarm and scaring away the intruder.

Option 2: Motion Sensor Floodlights

We’ve already suggested good lighting around the exterior of your home, but you can save some energy by installing home security motion sensor floodlights that only come on when motion is detected. Security professionals highly recommend floodlights as a criminal deterrent.

Option 3: Security Cameras

How about having your home guarded 24/7 by a watchful eye? Security cameras, which are popular with merchants and other businesses, are fast becoming popular home security devices as well. A home security camera system monitors and records activities going on anywhere around your house. You can monitor a live feed or secretly tape what’s going on when you are away from home. Cameras act as an excellent deterrent and are extremely useful in the prosecution of criminals. Home security cameras catch them in the act.

So Many More Options

You have many options in home security. Complete home security means securing your home from more than just intruders. Protect yourself and your family from a variety of emergencies with:

• Smoke Alarms
• Heat Sensors
• Fireproof Safes
• Freeze Alarms
• Temperature Sensors
• Water Alarms
• Water Sensors
• Carbon Monoxide Detectors
• Personal Safety Alarms
• Pepper Spray
• Panic Buttons
• Guide Lights
• Voice Dialers
• Biometric Readers
• Wireless Intercoms
